Transfer Season Talk

Twas the night before the transfer season and throughout the world not a team was stirring not even the Gunners.

I have to admit part of the allure of Footy is the summer and January transfer seasons. There is not another sport in the world where a team can either choose to buy or sell a player. Some would say the Yankees here in America buy players but only after they have run out of contract with another team. It's great to see teams buying and selling players like there were a piece of meat in some dirty downtown market. And nothing leads up to the January transfer season like the rumours swirling around certain teams and players. So here are some posted rumours from the Internet and my own personal comments.

1.Ex–Girlfriend Texts me out the blue(who know's nothing of football)saying she had just been J Pennant's house (random).She knows his agent supposedly. Saying he got back from Madrid Yesterday(29th DEC). And is Buying House there. IF SHE READS THIS I'LL BE DEAD

OK, raise your hand if you believe this one. This bloke is quoting his ex-girlfriend who somehow knows Pennant's agent. I laughed out loud in my office when i read this one.

2.I have been told that Jermaine Defoe will be coming to Rangers for 3.5 million plus Andy Webster

Right Defoe to Rangers. This isn't even the most ridiculous rumour found about Rangers.

3. This is a rumour about possible Manchester City Transfers(These are in Euros):
ins/outs:
Aguero – 34million
Santa Cruz – 12 million
Bellamy – 14million
Villa – 40million euros
Sergio Ramos – 30 million
Kaka – 44 million
Iker Casillas – 55 million euros – record transfer!!!

out: Johnson – Liverpool
Richards – ManUtd
Benjani – Aston Villa
Ball – Reading
Hart – Tottenham

That's 229 Million Euros or in Dollars $176,000,000. I don't care how much their new owners are worth that's an impossible amount of money to spend in one month. Will City get one or two of those players. I wouldn't bet against them but not all of them.

4. Last but not least these are just a few of the Arsenal rumours floating around.

For those counting at home this rumour would have Arsene "The Scrooge" Wenger spending 85 million pounds in the January transfer seasons when this old man hasn't spent 85 million in the last 5 transfer seasons put together. I would doubt if any of these rumours come true. Arsene spending money is about as likely as me taking my shirt off and looking like Brad Pitt.

Here are a few of my transfer predictions:
1. Manchester United and Chelsea do nothing.
2. Liverpool sell a few fringe players and make a run at Heskey and a RB.
3. Arsenal loan some of the younger GUnners out and actually spends some money on a CB and holding midfielder. One rumour is Viera coming back but that seems unlikely.
4. Portsmouth gets a new manager in Alan Curbishley.
5. Oguchi Onyewu gets a transfer to a French League 1 side, probably PSG or Marseille.
6. Demarcus Beasley will be loaned out by Rangers to a new club.
7. Sasha Klestjan will get a transfer to a Dutch team, probably FC Twente who is managed by Steve McClaren.
8. Kenny Cooper stays in Dallas
9. Jozy Altidore stays with Villareal instead of getting loaned out.
10. And the big one: Landon Donovan or "The Golden Boy" here at Worthless Sentiments will be loaned out to Bayern Munich with a hope that it becomes a permanent deal.
